Global NMO Training & Youth Fellowship Program 2014



The World Federation of Hemophilia is pleased to invite a representative from your
organization (HSM) to attend the WFH Global NMO Training which will take place from May 8-10, 2014 in Melbourne, Australia.

This event offers a unique opportunity for patient organization representatives from
around the world to gather together as an international hemophilia community to share,
to learn, to meet old friends and to make new ones.

In order to promote the development of future leaders in the international bleeding disorders community, the WFH is offering fellowships for deserving and active youth leaders from its national member organizations (NMOs) to attend the following events in Melbourne, Australia. 
  • WFH Global NMO Training – May 8 – 10, 2014
  • WFH 2014 World Congress – May 11 – 15, 2014
  • WFH General Assembly-  May 16, 2014

The WFH will award 15 youth fellowships.  A selection committee will choose the youth fellowship delegates based on merit of the applications received. In addition, one youth fellow will have the distinction of being awarded the Susan Skinner Memorial Fund scholarship, which recognizes exceptional young women with bleeding disorders who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential.  The SSMF scholarship is identical to the youth fellowships in terms of award content.  


Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered:
  • Be between 18 & 30 years old on or before May 8, 2014;
  • Be a person with hemophilia, von Willebrand, other bleeding disorder, or a carrier;
  • Able to communicate and work in English, Spanish, Russian or French (application forms and supporting documents must be completed in either English or Spanish);
  • Have been an active volunteer of their hemophilia organization for at least the past year;
  • Be committed to working with their hemophilia organization for at least the next two years after completing the training;
  • Not have participated in any previous WFH Global NMO Training (Seville 2002, Bangkok 2004, Vancouver 2006, Istanbul 2008, Buenos Aires 2010 or Paris 2012). Having participated in a WFH Regional NMO Training or other WFH event does not exclude a person from eligibility for this fellowship.

Applicants will be informed of the results in early February 2014.
